One Month on Dexedrine

Although I’m not doing them as frequently, I did still want to make an update here and there to these medication posts. I started with Prozac and I have been increasing my dose a bit more every couple of weeks. As I mentioned in my previous post, my eating habits are now officially under my control, and I couldn’t be happier about that. I’ve managed to lose a good amount of weight (update 1, update 2) and my confidence is much higher than it has been in a long time.

The Dexedrine is still pretty new to me, and its effects are much more subtle, but so far I’m feeling really positive. Although the change is not drastic, I have seen an improvement in my social anxiety, which I had resigned myself to accepting that it would never change. While the change isn’t noticeable in “real life”, the simple fact that I’ve been able to reach out and leave comments on other people’s blogs and on YouTube videos, and that Twitter doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable anymore, is absolutely huge for me. It’s not scary anymore, and I’ve even received a couple of replies from the women I look up to who are much bigger than me and my tiny blog. It just makes me want to keep pushing even harder.

I’m still unsure if it’s affecting my short-term focus, and it’s too early to see if it’s affecting my long-term focus. I am, however, on a very small dose. I may ask about increasing it a little bit on my next visit, to see if it helps any more.
