Hello, June! This month really went by slowly, it’s just been a stressful month. I’ve been more active, though, especially towards the end of the month. I’ve been sorting through my things and trying to pare down what I have. It’s a slow process, but I’ve actually managed to find a couple of things that I had forgotten about. So here we have them, these are my May Top 5.
I’ve been wearing heels progressively less over the last couple of months. I mean, I still wear them, but now that the weather has warmed up, I can finally wear ballet flats comfortably. I’m not sure what it is, but I feel like they’re so much more of a summer shoe. Am I alone here? There is one style that I have purchased over and over again. I know they’re comfortable, they always fit well, and there are plenty of cute colours and prints to choose from. Plus, they’re easy to find and affordable. They are the Claire Scrunch Flat from Payless Shoes.
I work at a desk all day, so my hands shouldn’t get overly dry. However, I am also a finger biter and a compulsive hand-washer, so maybe that makes up for it. I have a (very) large collection of hand creams, and while I do enjoy them all, I can’t stand the feeling of greasy fingers on my keyboard. This is one of the few in my collection that is really hydrating but doesn’t leave oily fingerprints behind. Plus, the scent is really nice. It’s strong, but not really overwhelming.
This palette has been really nice this month. I got it for my birthday and found a lot of the colours really intimidating. I mostly wound up sticking to the shades on the left side of the palette. Over the last little while, I have been experimenting more and pushing myself to try more of the “scary” shades. While I do feel like the darker shades are a little bit more fall-appropriate, I’m actually really enjoying the looks. This has become my go-to palette that I reach for almost every day now. The colours are beautiful, the pigmentation is great and overall, you can get a lot of different looks with the one palette.
I’ve had this book for a long time, and I’ve read it a lot, but not for a while. It touches a lot on spirituality but it’s written more like a story. It just doesn’t feel like your typical “self-help” book. I actually dug this out while I was going through some old boxes, and I’m really happy to have found it again. It talks a lot about coincidences, and I’m going to imagine that this is one of them. I also found the Twelfth Insight in my boxes, which I haven’t read yet, but since this book only covers one to nine, I’ll probably look for the other books before I go ahead and read that one.
I don’t know what it is exactly that I love so much about this book, but something about it really resonates with me. If you’re into spirituality or just the idea of being mindful and connected, I think you should give this book a shot. It’s an easy read, it’s entertaining, and it leaves you feeling good.
While I have mentioned Bronwyn before in my favourites, I really wanted to highlight her again. She moved recently, and it looks like Australia is treating her well. She’s been going to a lot of events and creating a lot of new and different content. It seems to me that she’s growing a lot, maturing, in a way and it reflects really well on her.
I’ve been following her for years, her makeup tutorials are beautiful and she does a lot of good skincare reviews, too. (Plus she’s Canadian-Métis, like me!) She is a big part of the reason that I became interested in Asian skincare in the first place.
If you haven’t seen her already, and you like your beauty bloggers as down to earth as they are gorgeous, you should definitely check her channels out.
How was your month? I’ve been working hard, and I’m glad things have started to pay off. What do you think? What are your May top 5? Let me know in a comment or tag me on social media!
